Meaning of this dream?
By:
Recently I've been having dreams of people commuting suicide in different ways. The two that effected me the most were one of them was a friend I knew personally and he shot himself in through the mouth and I was so effected by the dream I woke up feeling extremely sad. The second one I was with a man on a balcony and he was attempting to jump off. I tried to stop him but he still jumped, and I watched his body fall and die. I suddenly burst into tears and felt a huge wave of sadness, -as if I had just lost the love of my life even though it was a random person.

I was hoping if anybody would be able to shed some light on the possible meanings of these dreams.

Thanks,

For the most part, when it comes to the fine details of interpretation it can be difficult to be accurate, because dreams are based in personal symbols built from life experience and associations. Still, usually at least a few general ideas might be able to be gleaned. it might give a starting point for you to reflect on.

i suppose the first bit is to let you know that death in dreams is much like death in tarot in that is represents change and loss, and not literally someone dying. So seeing death in your dreams might mean you have a concern that you are losing out on your friendship, or perhaps losing connection with some aspect of yourself that is important to you that you might also see in the friend you recognized.

It might be a good idea to sit down somewhere you can write, either with pen and paper or at a computer, and just re-hash the dreams. Try to look at the different images and events as things that might reflect on yourself. What would your friend represent within yourself? Does he have any good or bad habits that are similar to your own? Or maybe there is some other quality the two of you share in common. Basically, ask yourself what you see in him that you might be afraid of losing within yourself. Also look at other more subtle details if you can. What was said? What was the location like? Were there any other people or animals around? Did anything continue to happen in the dream afterwards?

Then do the same for the unknown stranger. What was different about it? Why was the method to fall where the other was to shoot? Was there an idea of trying to fly away instead of falling? Are there any familiar details around the person? Any emotions or connections you got from him? Could that person have been a reflection of yourself?

Jot down any thoughts that come to mind. point form is fine, just get yourself as big a collection of ideas and thoughts that pop up from these sorts of reflective questions. then read over them, see if any connect together in a running theme, and go from there.

Not really sure this is helpful, so sorry if I’m wasting time.

Currently I feel very connected to Morpheus the greek god of dreams, and upon studying of him I learned of the oneiroi (basicly, the “sandman's”, Morpheus brothers, the ones who bring dreams). A line from “Homer, Odyssey 19. 562 ff (trans. Shewring) (Greek epic C8th B.C.)” found on Theoi.com “Two gates there are that give passage to fleeting Oneiroi (Dreams); one is made of horn, one of ivory. The Oneiroi that pass through sawn ivory are deceitful, bearing a message that will not be fulfilled; those that come out through polished horn have truth behind them, to be accomplished for men who see them.” So, I believe (and another witch mentioned this in a book of hers, so for all I know it could be common thought?) that not all dreams mean something, that some could just be your mind wrestling with problems of everyday life, or just fantasies.

(I’m new to Wicca, dream decoding is not something I really practice yet). Spirit75 seemed the best at describing what it could mean (much better than I ever could!). The only thing I could contribute is maybe try to look at it positively? Moving on, the cycle of life, SummerLand? I don’t really know, but I tried. Sorry If it didn’t help. :/

I am not sure if this helps any. But I have dreamed of things before they have happened. Sometimes years before. When I was 10 I dreamed of a girl being murdered and burried. It really effected me. I had the dream several times a year. I tried to talk to my mother but she brushed it off as an active imagination. Forward to when I was 16. Moved to a different state first night I watched the news and there was the girl in my dreams!! At the time she was just missing. I told my mother who killed her and where she was burried. She didn't believe me until a year later when they found her body.
So could this be something that happens to your friend later on Down the road? May be the dream is telling you you need to help more now while you can?? The stranger could be someone your going to meet or maybe someone you already met. You made it sound like the loss of the stranger effected you like you lost a great love??
Not sure if this helps or not
