Samhain Celebrations

I'd like to know how others celebrate Samhain. Do you do spells? Rituals? Visit certain places? Honour loved ones? For Samhain this year I want to do something different. But every year at Samhain I would watch the Harvest Moon without fail, since I am a toddler. That's my little tradition. What do you do?

I think about and commune with dead loved ones around this time, I also think about death and grieving and how it is a necessary process even though it is difficult and often does not make sense to us. I set out an altar for the dead during Samhain and the surrounding days. I will take things that remind me of dead loved ones such as momentos or pictures and lay them on an altar with a candle for each of person. Also at least one candle for the gods. I decorate the altar with seasonal things like fall leaves and things that are reminiscent of death such as things with skulls or skeletons, things that are black, a pentagram usually as well. I will set out offerings as well, like rice, (that's something we use and value a lot in our meals in my family) flour, corn, bead, sugar, herbs, a portion of whatever was for dinner. On the night of Samhain I will try to have a really good supper in honor of the dead but I am not always able to because of my money situation.
