Hi. So I have recently met with someone saying being agnostic is not enough if you want enlightenment. They have said they are agnostic atheist. I mean isn't it you either atheist or not. How can one be an agnostic atheist. They were replying to this video I made titled 'atheism vs god'.

To more than overly simplify, there are two main types of atheist: agnostic atheist and gnostic atheist.

Gnostic, meaning knowing, atheists 'know' there is no god. Often the term is used inclusively of all supernatural beings and abilities.

Agnostic atheists do not believe in god, but cannot be absolutely certain of the absence of something which can neither be proven not disproven.

Thanks for the replies really helpful. It turns out agnostic atheism is a fancy term for agnosticism.
