Runes Question
By:
I know there is a lot of information but I am stuck on this question. How do I decide what material my runes should be made of? I hope to get my own this new year. Any advice or suggestion and/or recommendation.

-I thank you for your time.

Personally I would find a set that you feel very closely connected to. There are so many different rune materials: crystal, bone, wood, clay, stone. Some decorated, some carved. There is a huge variety so maybe just taking some time to find runes in person or look into sets that you feel instantly connected to online rather than focusing on the material itself.

From the experience of people whom I know and who are into Runes, they prefer wood for runes as divination tool. They use Runes to scribe them on photos, as talismans etc., depending on situation and concrete rites.

May I suggest that you create your own set. Traditionally, they are made of the branches of an apple, elm, oak or ash tree. Connect yourself with the energy of the runes, ask permission from the species you choose and thank the tree for its gift to you. Then create your rune set. How you energize them for usage is your personal choice. There are a lot of really great suggestions on this topic from other forum users. Good luck!

Like other people said, you can use a material that kind of calls out to you.

Ive used brown paper bag paper for work and I feel fine with that.

Whatever it is that makes you feel confident about your work with the runes such that you wont worry or bother over the details like what material to use.

Good luck, I hope you post about your experience using the runes whether for spell work or divination in the future.
